Online Impedance Measurement of Lithium-Ion Battery: Applying Broadband Injection with Specified Fourier Amplitude Spectrum

State parameters such as the state-of-charge (SOC) and state-of-health (SOH) play important role in operation of Li-ion batteries, accurate estimate is prime importance evaluating battery condition guaranteeing safe use. While it difficult to measure SOC SOH directly, internal impedance can be used obtain parameters. Recent studies have shown methods based on pseudo-random binary sequence (PRBS) with which rapidly measured real time. Using this method, charged recharged according excitation waveform Fourier are applied impedance. The PRBS often produces measurements, but method may require a high perturbation amplitude, easily interfere nominal create nonlinear distortions. This paper proposes use discrete-interval-binary (DIBS) for measuring DIBS computer-optimized power spectral densities maximized at specified frequencies without increasing signal time-domain amplitude. Experimental measurements commercial presented demonstrate effectiveness proposed method.
